Saturday evening Mom & Dad had a small potluck at their home with some dear friends of theirs. As only my Mom can do, we ate like royalty. She can COOK! When I grow up, I want to cook and housekeep just like her. Not only was the food and fellowship amazing, I learned that my Mom can make some kick-butt sangria. Oh MY!!
The one place we all agreed we wanted to visit again when we met in New Mexico was White Sands. Sunday was the best day for us to all go, so off we went after a leisurely morning of breakfast, walks thru Zozo, a tour of the 100 year-old theater, and a stop at the pistachio farm in Alamagordo.
The temperature at White Sans upon our arrival was 102*. A dry heat, so doable. (Well, at least for those of us from the tropics! LOL) The kids quickly discovered that digging holes in the gypsum was the best way to find some relief from the heat and blazing sunshine. What fun it was watching them (and even some of the 'big kids') dig some rather creative holes.
After a couple of hours we ran out of water and were hungry, so we went back into town and had a quick bite to eat, then went back out to White Sands to watch the sun set. What a difference in the temp!!! So much fun running and jumping off the dunes and trying to capture some of the beauty of that vast, white place in the beautiful hues of the setting sun!
These pictures are just a reminder to us of the happy, fun, hot, silly memories we made on this most special day. Talk about LivinLifeJoyfully!!!!
